Our Story

Headquartered in St. Louis Missouri, Team Gateway To A Cure, in partnership with The Michael J. Fox Foundation and The Muhammad Ali Parkinson’s Center (MAPC) Foundation, is committed to raising awareness and funds in communities.

Founded in 2016, Team Gateway To A Cure offers a diverse range of services for those suffering from Parkinson’s, their families, and caregivers. Coming from diverse backgrounds, Team Gateway To A Cure is determined to assist those directly affected by Parkinson’s.

Founder/Executive Director

Jennifer Cobb, Founder and President, of Team Gateway to a Cure was born to cheer you up. A former NFL Cheerleader for the St. Louis Rams, Jennifer knows that inspiration and hope can lead to momentum and propel you to places you never thought possible. Her foundation focuses on the caregivers of people associated with diseases such as Parkinson’s and other affecting the brain. As of late she has partnered with filmmaker Tim Breitbach with his film the Final 19 and other upcoming projects related to cause, She has used her NFL pedigree and platform to reach hundreds of thousands and has a partner to both the Michael J. Fox Foundation and the Muhammed Ali Parkinson Center.

Her focus on the caregiver is relentless as she is a daughter of a father with the disease of Parkinson’s. She has two books in development and is aligning with influences in all sectors of the entertainment industry to help tell compelling stores to educate and inform.

Tim Brunette

As the Director of Strategic Partnerships for Team Gateway To A Cure, Brunette brings over twenty years of experience building Strategic Partnerships through sales, marketing, new business development, promotions, and advertising.

Having worked for Anheuser-Busch, NBC Universal Studios, Paramount Pictures and as an independent Media Consultant for over ten years, Brunette has also volunteered with The Albert Pujols Family Foundation, Responder Rescue, the Special Olympics, and as a coach for CYC (Catholic Youth Council).

Dr Erin Shannon

Executive Vice President

Dr. Erin Shannon is a Doctor of Clinical Psychology and an Energy Medicine Practitioner specializing in Sports Psychology for Professional Sports Organizations, Athletes and their families.

A Summa Cum Laude graduate of both Loyola Marymount University and Pepperdine University In Southern California specializing in both traditional psychotherapy as well as cutting edge mind-body techniques and energy medicine.She offers multiple techniques to optimize performance, resolve chronic pain, speed injury recovery, resolve relational discord, unwanted habits and patterns, medical related stress, sleep issues/insomnia, negative thought patterns, life transitions and imbalances.

Dr. Shannon is goal oriented, interactive, solution-focused therapist. Her therapeutic approach is to provide rapid symptom relief, continual support, and practical techniques to help clients effectively address both professional and personal life challenges. She integrates traditional therapy with highly effective complementary methodologies and holistic techniques and holds over 30 total degrees and certifications in both Eastern and Western Healing Practices. Dr.Shannon specializes in techniques such as psychoneuroimmunoloical skills, Eden Energy Medicine, acupressure, meditation, hypnosis, energy balancing, somatic psychology and EFT tapping, to offer a carefully constructed personalized approach that is tailored to each client.

Education
Dr. Shannon graduated Summa Cum Laude from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles with a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology. She earned her Masters of Psychology as well as her Doctorate of Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University, in California, graduating with highest honors at the top of her class successively throughout all her degree programs.She successfully completed her predoctoral internship at the St. Louis VA Medical Center and was awarded a dual Post-Doctoral Fellowship from Washington University Medical School Department of Psychiatry and Department of Genetics, which was funded by National Institute of Mental Health .

Additional Training
Dr. Shannon has enhanced her extensive traditional psychological training and education with complementary holistic therapeutic skills. Dr. Shannon is one of only fifty therapists in the world trained in Holographic memory resolution trauma debriefing (used in the aftermath of the 9/11 world trade center attacks and other disasters to successfully treat massive traumas with success rates unparalleled to other therapeutic techniques) completed the third level of Healing Touch© certification and she is an Eden Energy Medicine Practitioner and a Reiki Master. She is currently studying multiple complementary therapeutic techniques, such as the highly successful Emotional Freedom Technique© (Meridian Tapping), Quantum Bioenergetics and The Silva System© .

Personal
Dr. Erin Shannon was born and raised in St. Louis and returned to the area after completing her education in Southern California. She has a large extended family St. Louis who are very active in the community. As the daughter of a professional athlete, Dr. Shannon grew up in a unique sub-culture that has given her an intense drive to succeed and an acute sense of the power of mind body connections. She has a passion for learning and researching methods to facilitate optimum performance and life enhancement. Dr. Shannon regularly attends training, workshops and professional meetings to deepen her understanding and skill in helping her clients.

Tim Peterson

Board Member

After spending more than two decades creating and running successful businesses in Missouri and Illinois, Petterson looked for ways to give back to his community. Empowered by Jennifer Cobb’s enthusiasm, determination, and energy he wanted to become involved with Team Gateway To A Cure.

A former music director, event coordinator, and musician for the St. Louis Blues, Petterson turned his focus to bringing the Blues together with the Michael J. Fox Foundation and Team Gateway To A Cure. Proud to be involved with something that makes people feel good inside, Petterson enjoys watching the smile the foundation puts on people’s faces.

Kelly Ott

Board Member

A registered nurse specializing in research and hemodynamic monitoring and passionate about improving the outcome of patients, Ott is an Alumni Rams Cheerleader whose dedication to finding a cure became near and dear to her heart after her grandfather passed away from complications resulting from Parkinson’s disease.

After witnessing Jennifer Cobb’s tireless work with the Michael J. Fox Foundation and Team Gateway To A Cure, Maher knew he wanted to be a part of the foundation.

As an ophthalmologist specializing in cataract surgery, Maher has encountered many Parkinson’s patients throughout his career and witnessed firsthand the multitude of challenges they face along with their caregivers and loved ones.

Jumping at the opportunity to join Team Gateway To A Cure, Maher enjoys the organization’s creativity in finding new ways to highlight Parkinson’s Disease and raise awareness of ways to help patients, families, and caregivers.

Fago Franklin III

Board Member

Fago Franklin III is a member of the media, as well as a publicist. He started as a journalist in 2012 and worked his way up the scales. In 2019, he started interning as a publicist with a small firm and later started his own business called Newsstitched Media.

Newsstitched Media is a combination of maximum exposure on brands, as well as content. Some call him Superman, because he does multiple things in the sports and entertainment industry.
