Team Fox Representative/Team Member Team Gateway To A Cure
Born and raised in Chicago, I started working as a dietitian at St. Louis Children’s Hospital. As an ambassador of the NFL as a Rams Cheerleader from inaugural season when Rams came from LA, Jennifer has been very involved with the St. Louis community for number of years. Writing a sports nutrition column for a local paper and St Louis Men’s Magazine, to holding a number of fitness titles throughout the country, Jennifer has dedicated her life to educating people all over the country on healthy nutrition and fitness. I became involved with the Micheal J Fox Foundation years after my Dad, Ty Cobb, had been suffering from Parkinson’s Disease. I started a 5K Run/Walk called Soul To Sole to raise money and awareness for Parkinson’s disease. Over the past 2 years I have raised over $50,000 for the Michael J Fox Foundation/Team Fox. My 5K Run/Walk was the only Parkinson’s fundraiser in the Illinois Metro East area. I came up with the name because my dad has such a sweet soul and Parkinson’s affects your gait, step, walk (Soul to Sole).
I felt I needed to do something to get the message out there to others that there is support for families and patients who suffer from this chronic disease and I could bring this message of support to the city of St Louis. I thought what better way is to host a myriad of different events in the St. Louis area.
Outside the 5K Soul To Sole Run/Walk, I wanted to bring the fun back to charity events, giving, education and most importantly to support the families and the patients that are suffering from this debilitative disease.
Education is power but so is fun and if you mix the two together it makes life that much better. Everyday that passion and love I have for my father who instilled in me to go after something you want in life, is what drives me everyday and that’s exactly what I’m doing…. Going after a cure!!
